Promo and Giveaway:The Vampire Code by E.C. Adams

'The Vampire Code' is a New Adult Urban Fantasy Romance Novel about a young lawyer from Manhattan who agrees to defend a vampire wrongly accused of murdering a human.

In so doing she becomes the target of human hate-groups, primary among them the New Ku Klux Klan and the much more dangerous Vampire Resistance - a secret society of vampires who refuse to mainstream and obey the Vampire Code.

In the mayhem that is now Aurora’s life the only constant is Sebastian, the stoic vampire assigned to protect her. Nothing ever seems to affect him. Violence and politics are his life and there's no space for anything else.

Yet when an ancient curse starts killing Aurora slowly he's willing to go to unimaginable lengths to save her. Could Aurora have changed him the way he changed her? And how far are they both willing to go together so they can have the happy ending they both deserve?

Excerpt:
I opened a second, smaller package. Inside was a large ruby pendant set within a figure of eight—the symbol for infinity—and pinched a little at the top, hinting at the shape of a heart. I stared down at the jewel.
“This is huge,” I told Sebastian, my eyes wide. He was staring at the jewel with just as much surprise. “Is there something I should know? Why would your mother send me such a thing to wear at the trial? Is this normal?”
“With my mother, Aurora, nothing is ever normal or what it appears to be, but I know what this is about.” He pointed to the jewel. “This will protect you. It has a strong protective shield. I can sense it. Can’t you?”

Sounds good, right? Well, you could win a signed paperback of the book, a gorgeous bookmark and a beautiful pendant:

  2. Hello everyone, just a quick clarification:

"A tagline is a variant of a branding slogan typically used in marketing materials and advertising. The idea behind the concept is to create a memorable phrase that will sum up the tone and premise of a brand or product (like a film), or to reinforce the audience's memory of a product."

You can post as many taglines as you want on this blog, (in a comment box) or on the approproate thread in Goodreads.com's "Never too old for YA" Group.

As soon as you get an idea, post it - you just MIGHT guess!

I will be posting hints now and again...

Example: "in dubio pro reo" - which means - "when in doubt, for the accused"

Ok... I gave you the biggest hint I could. Happy research!

  4. Gah trying to think this all out. I really like the book and necklace *stares*

The vampire code isnt a code that should be faltered

For The Vampire Code, nothing is really as it seems.

Love lies in the arms of others. The Vampires Code draws those who yearn to those arms.

And reading the hint I wonder if its supposed to be in latin so I tried to look up some bit I thought would fit.

Then I started reading, and... guess what? YOU HAVEN'T GUESSED !

So now, I am smiling again... may the games continue! :-))

rn77 - Thanks though... you just provided me with the tagline for book TWO. I wanted to research it, and here it is... translated and all. :-))

I'm enjoying this. Can you tell? :-))

10 points for the effort tho'. I'm in awe !!!

  13. Glad to help with the next one!!! LOL. It took a bit of digging to find all of that!!!

But why would it be cheating...the prize doesn't automatically go to the person that guesses the tagline, right? You just get one entry for guessing...or did I misunderstand?

    1. No, the prize doesn't automatically go to the person who guesses. You get that extra 1 point for guessing. You are correct. My first reaction was "this is cheating!" 'cos it looks like you copied and pasted all the legal maxims in existence (except the correct one :-P ) I used "cheating" for want of a better word. I did not mean it literally. I hope this wasn't misunderstood. It was quite clever actually. I should have expected someone to do that.

Anyhow... there's still 2 weeks within which you can make submissions. Good luck!

  20. Hi everyone. Since nobody has guessed yet, I thought it was time for one last, BIG hint. So "The Vampire Code" is the story of a young lawyer from Manhattan who is hired by a leading vampire family to defend one of them when he is wrongly accused of murdering a human.

    So far, so good.

But the story is not set in a vacuum. It is set in a United States in which vampires have revealed themselves as a new race, and like blacks or jews or even gays before them, are now fighting for more legal and social rights.

So, as a tagline, I adopted a legal maxim that reflects this last bit, and it has to do with (vampire) "society" and "law".

Remember: it is not the first to guess the tagline that wins, but guessing will give you 1 point on the rafflecopter, to add to the other points.

    Goodluck!

  21. It's the 1st of June 2013 - and not only did I officially publish "The Vampire Code" today, but it's also time to announce the winners of this giveaway!!!!

    *drum roll*

The Winner (the only one to guess the tagline and to collect the maximum number of points possible) is:

    LIZ!!!!!!!!!!!

The tagline for “The Vampire Code” is:

“Ubi societas, ibi jus” – which mean: “where there is society, there is Law” - because the book deals with the laws that govern the vampire society as it tries to integrate and mainstream.

The First Runner up is: Kari Ploysa

The Second Runner up is: Angela Pratt

I’m going to PM you all ladies !!!!

THANK YOU to those who participated both on GR and The Cover Contessa's blog, and thank you to Brooke (aka The Cover Contessa) for hosting this giveaway.

It was great fun and I hoped you enjoyed playing too.

  22. Problem: HP Printer not connecting to my laptop.
I had an issue while connecting my 2 year old HP printer to my brother's laptop that I had borrowed for starting my own business. I used a quick google search to fix the problem but that did not help me. I then decided to get professional help to solve my problem. After having received many quotations from various companies, i decided to go ahead with Online Tech Repair (www.onlinetechrepairs.com).
Reasons I chose them over the others:
    1) They were extremely friendly and patient with me during my initial discussions and responded promptly to my request.
    2) Their prices were extremely reasonable.
    3) They were ready and willing to walk me through the entire process step by step and were on call with me till i got it fixed.
    How did they do it
    1) They first asked me to state my problem clearly and asked me a few questions. This was done to detect any physical connectivity issues with the printer.
    2) After having answered this, they confirmed that the printer and the laptop were functioning correctly.
    3) They then, asked me if they could access my laptop remotely to troubleshoot the problem and fix it. I agreed.
    4) One of the tech support executives accessed my laptop and started troubleshooting.
    5) I sat back and watched as the tech support executive was navigating my laptop to spot the issue. The issue was fixed.
    6) I was told that it was due to an older version of the driver that had been installed.
My Experience I loved the entire friendly conversation that took place with them. They understood my needs clearly and acted upon the solution immediately. Being a technical noob, i sometimes find it difficult to communicate with tech support teams. It was a very
different experience with the guys at Online Tech Repairs. You can check out their website www.onlinetechrepairs.com or call them on 1-914-613-3786.
Would definitely recommend this service to anyone who needs help fixing their computers.
Thanks a ton guys. Great Job....
