Feature Friday

It's Feature Friday, the day when I choose a blogger to interview and feature on The Cover Contessa. Today I am excited to welcome blogger, and my friend, Marni Jarman! Marni blogs at the following spot:

Click picture to visit her spot!

Here's a great pictures of Marni and her family:

So, without me chattering more, let's hear what Marni had to say to all my blogger questions!
Welcome Marni!!

Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in the suburbs of St Louis, MO in a town called Oakville.  I’ve lived with my husband and children in Quakertown, PA for the past twelve years.

How long have you been a blogger?
I have officially been a blogger for over 2 months.  I’m also part of a team of mods for the Goodreads group, Never Too Old For YA Books.  I’ve been with them for over a year now and consider the other mods dear friends.

What is the name of the book you most recently blogged about?
Dark Seraphine by KaSonndra Leigh.  She’s also a good friend.  I first got to know her when she won a contest the group was holding.  That was before her first book came out.

Did you like the cover? Rate it on a scale of 1 stars to 5 stars, 5 being the best?
I love the cover, nothing like a hottie to keep you looking.  I’d rate it a 4.5.  She ruined it for me when I saw more pics of him looking even hotter.

If you could ask the author 3 questions about this book, what would they be?
  1. Did your boys give you tips on how to portray Caleb?
  2. What was your inspiration behind the seraphine?
  3. When the series ends, will there be a happy ending for Caleb and Gia?  I know she can’t tell me that though.

Was this a series or stand alone?
If it is a series, will you read the rest of the books?
It is the first book in a series, the others have not been released yet, but as soon as they are I will be trampling others to get to them!

Was this a review book or something you picked out to read? Do you think that influenced your review?
It was  a review book, but honestly, after reading her two other books, I’d have happily picked it up on my own.  KaSonndra has a way with words and imagery.

What did you rate this book?
I gave it 5 stars.  I’m very picky about giving a book such a high rating, but KaSonndra Leigh has struck gold.

Have you written a book yourself or are you planning to in the future?
When I was younger I would write short stories.  I haven’t written anything in years, even though I have some ideas running around in my head.  My husband and children ask me when I’m going to write my own book.

What genre is your favorite and why?
Dystopia.  Something about earth’s future, and the chaos involved just strikes my interests.  It’s kind of like scifi, but without having to travel to other planets.  There are so many different ways the world can go and the future is always changing.  The past is pretty much concrete and is harder to manipulate with the imagination.

If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what 3 books would you want with you and why?
Unwind by Neal Shusterman:  I love this book.  I can talk forever about this book and have.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.  A great love story that transcends time.  We think about what it would be like to go back in time, and the female lead does.  The Bible.  So many different stories.  Love stories, war stories, faith, hope, love, you name it.

Is there an author that you would really like to meet? Is there an author that you really wanted to meet and had the pleasure of doing so?
I’d like to meet them all…I think I would love to hang with KaSonndra Leigh though, I have a feeling we’d be laughing all day!  I really wanted to meet Cyn Balog and Jennifer L Armentrout and had the pleasure of meeting both of them at YA Fest 2012 in Easton, PA.  Great time!

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
Hardcover.  I’ve found that even though I love ebooks, and have over a thousand of them (mostly free or really cheap), there’s nothing like reading from an actual book.  And for some reason, I read faster from a print book than an ebook.

Where do you buy your books?
I get most of my ebooks from Barnes and Noble, because I have a Nook.  I do have a lot of Kindle books though, and recently acquired a basic Kindle.  All of my Kindle books have been free ones or ARC’s from Netgalley.  I have accidentally purchased a couple while surfing the internet and not paying attention to the price. My print books also mostly come from Barnes and Noble.

Have you ever read a book more than once? Which one and why?
I have, but not very often.  There are sooooo many books out there that I want to read and not enough time to do it, so I would rather read something new than old.

Do you prefer movies over books ever?
Only when it comes to scifi and action.  Oh, and Nicholas Sparks.  I love the movies based off his books, but I don’t like the way he writes.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
Eve & Adam by Michael Grant, in hardcover.
What book are you about to start reading?
Wallbanger by Alice Clayton, so not YA though and an ebook.  LOL!  I am also reading for review Darwin's Children by Natasha Larry.  That’s in paperback, author provided.

What book do you know that you will never read? Why?
Honestly, no particular title comes to mind, but I do not read Westerns.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?
I am finding new authors daily.  Mia Hoddell has recently caught my eye.  She has recently released her debut book and it has such a beautiful cover.  Annie Brewer is getting ready to kickoff the release of her second book, Choices.  I read her debut book and was privileged to read Choices, and her growth is amazing!  Choices is intense!

Have you read a book that you would like to rewrite the ending of?
Of course, but my ending would not necessarily be how another would do it.

Do you like book trailers? Why or why not?
I’m not a big fan of book trailers.  I like to image what the characters look like in my own mind, I don’t want someone to choose that for me.  Also, many book trailers seem to be just thrown together.  Lately though, I’m seeing much more though being put into them and many have struck my attention.

Name your three favorite book covers:
1.  Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier
2.  When Copper Suns Fall by KaSonndra Leigh
3.  Grasping at Eternity by Karen Amanda Hooper

Where do you usually blog?
On my computer in my pj’s, sitting in bed.  I’ve tried doing it over my phone but it just doesn’t look right.
Do you have any pet peeves?
Dog eared pages.  Ugh!  Don’t get me started on that one.  So many things to use as a bookmark!
How often do you blog?
I try to blog daily.
How many books do you read in a month?
Lately, not enough!  I don’t know what’s up with me.

Do you have a reading log for your books? Do you have a goal for the year?
My log is my progress on Goodreads.  I had a goal of 100 books, but have had to changed that.

How do you organize your books?
I just got a new Nook, so I’m redoing my shelves, starting over.  Right now it’s mostly by author.  I did have by author, than others by genre.

What is your favorite color?
Blue, than green, than teal.

What are 5 items you never leave home without:
1.  Phone
2.  ATM card
3.  Keys
4.  Drivers license
5.  I can’t think!  So much pressure!  LOL!

What is your most favorite electronic gadget?
My phone.  Has 3 different ereaders on it at any given time, numerous games, email access, texting, facebook, internet, etc.

Coffee, tea or hot chocolate?
Hot Caramel Macchiato, extra vanilla, extra caramel

What is your favorite food to eat?
Pasta

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Cappachunio Crunch

What is your favorite TV show? Movie?
Glee.  A Man from Snowy River
What are you most fearful of?
Besides spiders, I fear of not being with my children at the time of a natural disaster.

Where can we STALK you?
