Review:
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this title to read and give my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
I really love Lynn Painter's style of writing. I know going into her books (adult or YA) I'm going to get some great banter and a nice romance. On top of that, I know I'm going to have fun while at the same time I know she'll hit some sensitive or more complicated topics. A good mix of all the things that make an enjoyable romance.
Duffy and Connor make a cute couple. Yes, they begin their relationship as fake dating, hoping the PR stunt will turn things around for the team. I enjoyed their chemistry and banter. It was fun to watch them get to know one another and fall for each other. Connor is definitely a golden retriever who just wants to take care of Duffy and her family. And he definitely falls first while she takes a little longer to warm up to him. It was nice to see their relationship blossom in the book.
The side characters! Painter just knows how to write in characters that really blend the story into a bunch of fun. I loved Duffy's family.
The pacing was on point with this story. I never got bored and was always waiting to turn the next page and see what was going to happen. The plot is nothing new but Painter still had me enjoying the tropes she laid out for me.
Overall I really enjoyed this story. I will forever pick up anything Painter writes.
