Welcome Kimberly!
Did you always know you wanted to be a writer or did you want to be something else?
Actually, I never considered writing until I read Twilight in 2008! Once I finished the series, I realized I would love to tell a story that others loved as much as I loved Twilight. I started writing the next month!
How long does it take you to write a book from start to finish?
First draft usually takes me about eight weeks, then I go back through it and revise and edit, and I also send it to beta readers to make it even better.
Do you have a schedule of when you write?
No schedule – I just write when I get the time and feel the desire to get the words out!
How are you able to balance other aspects of your life with your writing?
I write on my days off from work mostly, and sometimes after work when the story is dying to get out!
What was the hardest thing about writing a book?
Getting it published!
Do you have a favorite?
I have one published, two in the works with publishers due out the end of this year and early next year, and four others I’ve written from middle grade to new adult, just waiting to get out there!
Where do you write?
My favorite place to write is in my back yard on my swing.
Have you gotten feedback from family about your book(s)?
What do they think? Yes! Of course, they say they love my books. But I am also lucky to have my sister and husband give me honest feedback about my stories so I can make them even better!
What kinds of things do you like to do outside of writing?
Traveling, snorkeling, reading, stargazing, and eating out.
Do you have any go to people when writing a book that help you with your story lines as well as editing, beta reading and such?
Yes – my beta reader Jackie has been amazing since day one! We met online, and out of all my readers and critique partners, she has stayed with me through every single book. I couldn’t do this without her!
Are you working on anything now?
Yes! I’m working on a young adult contemporary novel about a girl who witnesses a crime and runs away to save her life.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, Kim! It was so great having you here! Good luck with your future publications
